2025 Las Vegas Thoughts

THE BIG PICTURE: The dreaded results changing two hours after the race. Always sucks. More importantly, it puts Verstappen's impossible comeback into play again.

EVENT: So now the go to attendance figure for F1 events is "soldout"? When it clearly isn't for all three days?

TRACK: Manhole cover issues strike again. But the track racing quality still exists.

QUALIFYING: Rain + Vegas + Qualifying = Wild. One of the most thrilling qualifying sessions in F1. All culminating with an amazing, mega, hang on to dear life, championship caliber lap for Norris.

RACE: Once again, there were a lot of passes, just not upfront. But the tension of the championship still made it interesting in the front to see if the key players would finish. Turns out, that question was applied two hours later.

START: Norris goes too aggressive, too hard and losses two spots. Piastri nearly gets taken out by Lawson and losses two spots. Bearman jumps six spots. Borteleto becomes a first lap nutter.

VERSTAPPEN: Max to McLaren, gee thanks!

TSUNODA: Riding out his F1 career.

RED BULL: The constructors title should have been a slam dunk if they had a second driver with all the mistakes McLaren has made throughout the year.

NORRIS: How many different ways can his team try to lose him the championship?

PIASTRI: Now his team may screw him out of second place.

MCLAREN: It still should be Lando's title to lose. But McLaren is capable of losing the Statue of Liberty.

RUSSELL: Once again, a steller drive at Las Vegas.

ANTONELLI: Last race Kimi held off Verstappen. This race, he held off Piastri (before the penalty). And this time, Kimi started 17th. Not to mention he got a set of hard tires to last 48 laps.

FERRARI: Guess that so called pep talk didn't work.

SAINZ: Definitely has taken the Williams team by the horns.

ALBON: For Alex, when it rains it pours.

HADJAR: Riding towards that Red Bull ride.

HULKENBERG: Nico doing Nico things.

HAAS: Thanks to McLaren, they have passed Aston Martin for seventh place.

ALPINE: Another useless weekend.

BORTOLETO: Gabriel has lost the plot recently.

F1 ACADEMY: Frenchwoman Doriane Pin won the first race with a brilliant pass in the wet and finished fifth in race 2 to take the 2025 championship. American Chloe Chambers won from pole in the second race.

MACAU: Can't pass at Macau? Go find the replay of last Sunday's FIA Formula Regional World Cup main race. One of the best open wheel races you'll ever see.

WORD OF THE WEEKEND: Plank.

STAT OF THE WEEKEND: 30 -- The total number of points lost by McLaren drivers due to fractions of a millimeter.

TWEET OF THE WEEKEND: Nothing worth mentioning, because as expected, the idiots on social media could only handle the DQs with conspiracy theories galore.

QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND: Whatever Lando Norris said in private when he heard the news.

QUOTE OF THE WEEKEND RUNNERUP: Whatever Oscar Piastri said in private when he heard the news.

SCHEDULE: Historically, Piastri does better at Lusail than Norris. Which of course means Verstappen will win...
