The initial 2012 ranking features the top 15 American driver prospects for open wheel road racing. The next ranking will appear on June 27, 2012.

1 Alexander Rossi (F-Renault 3.5)
Continues on the track to be the next American in Formula 1 with a second season in Formula Renault after finishing third last year. Finished third at Monaco and sits fourth in points.

2 Conor Daly (GP3)
Made a big leap towards his F1 dreams signing a test contract with Force India. Showed his worth with his first GP3 victory coming at Barcelona.

3 Connor De Phillippi (Star Mazda)
Returns to Star Mazda after a runner-up finish last year. Started strong with two wins (St. Pete and IRP) and five top fives in five races for second in the points.

4 Spencer Pigot (USF2000)
Returns to USF2000 after a runner-up finish last year. A spectacular start to the season with four wins and a third in the first five races for first in points.

5 Gabby Chaves (Star Mazda)
Returns Stateside after two years in Europe. Has two thirds, a fourth, and a fifth in the first five Star Mazda races for fourth in points.

6 Sage Karam (Star Mazda)
After finishing fifth last year, returns to Star Mazda where he has two seconds for sixth in the championship.

7 Wyatt Gooden (F2000)
Got his start with iRacing (we kid you not) and now has a victory (at Lime Rock) in F2000 along with three podiums for third in the points.

8 Nick Andries (Indy Lights)
Third place in Star Mazda last year, has only been able to do one Indy Lights race.

9 Kyle Connery (F2000)
Third place in last year's F2000 Championship Series, Kyle continues the podium or crash mentality. Has a second, third, seventh, and three non-finishes.

10 Jack Eidson (Skip Barber)
After taking the Skip Barber Winter Series championship with three wins, has won three of the first four Summer Series races.

11 Brandon Newey (F16000)
Third place in Skip Barber last year with two wins, now runs the F1600 Formula F Championship Series which he leads thanks to two wins, a second, and a third in four races.

12 Felix Serralles (British F3)
Won twice and took a second in British F3, albeit with a thin field.

13 Scott Anderson (USF2000)
After a Skip Barber championship, moved up to USF2000 where he has a fourth and a fifth for sixth in the points.

14 Trent Hindman (USF2000)
The Skip Barber runner-up, he has a fourth and two fifths in USF2000 for seventh in the points.

15 Bobby Kelley (Pacific F2000)
Three wins and three seconds in six races gives him the championship lead in Pacific F2000.
