The Track The Sights Road America Rumblings 1982: Al Unser, Sr. runs out of fuel on the last lap, allowing Rebaque to lead his one and only lap in his CART career. 1985: This is the Uncle Jacques Villeneuve. 1986: Race halted on lap 5 due to heavy rain and fog. Restarted two weeks later. 1990: Race halted for one hour on lap 33 to attend to A.J. Foyt's serious crash. 1996: Al Unser Jr's engine blew while leading just two turns from the finish. 1999: C. Fittipaldi becomes the fifth driver to win his first CART race at Road America. Others were Hector Rebaque, both Jacques Villeneuve's, and Dario Franchitti. 2001: Race halted for 47:52 due to flooding on track. Race shortened by 10 laps due to two hour time limit. Bruno Junqueira becomes the sixth driver to win his first CART race at Road America. 2003: Race halted for three hours and one minute due to heavy rain. Race shortened to 34 laps due to potential darkness. 2004: Race shortened to 48 laps due to time limit. Alex Tagliani becomes the seventh driver to win his first Champ Car race at Road America. 2006: Race halted for 42 minutes for serious crash involving Katherine Legge.
