1962: Hugh Randall fatally injured in July race.
1965: June race was red flagged after 36 laps and restarted. No time
was posted.
1968 (Nazareth): First championship race run under lights at night.
1968 (Nazareth): First championship win for Al Unser, Sr.
1968 (Langhorne): July race run in two heats each awarding equal points.
1969 (Langhorne): Due to rain, first 28 laps were run one day and remaining 122 laps run
one week later.
1976: Starting positions determined by draw due to rain.
1981: Last year Pocono was a USAC sanctioned race. Field consisted of a mix of rear engine
chassis and upright roadsters. Starting positions determined by draw due to rain. Race shortened
due to rain.
1992: 100-mile race was a non-points all-star race called the Marlboro Challenge with ten
drivers.
1993: Rain cancelled qualifications. Starting positions determined by point standings.
1994: Last championship win for Emerson Fittipaldi.
1998: Race postponed till Monday due to rain.
2000: Race postponed from April 11 till May 27 due to snow.
2001: Scott Dixon is youngest winner in any major racing series, CART, IRL, F1, and NASCAR at 20 years,
9 months and 14 days. He is also the first CART rookie to win his first race on an oval.
