2000 Fantasy Auto Racing Teams (FART) Official Rules
LEAGUE FORMATION
Leagues are formed on a first come, first serve basis.
Leagues will consist of approximately 50 teams, depending on how many join.
If you would like to be in the same league as someone else, please have all of
you mention this on the entry form. Every effort will be made to accomodate your
request, but we cannot guarantee it.
Entries are not considered official until they are received, via online, in our office.
Each entry must be complete to be considered official.
SERIES
The CART FedEx Championship Series.
TEAMS
Each franchise team consists of 6 drivers.
One driver is selected from each group of drivers available regardless of what
others pick.
More than one team can select the same driver.
SWITCHING DRIVERS
You may make up to five (5) changes to your drivers throughout
the season.
The change takes effect at the first race after the change (see Deadlines).
You can only replace a driver with another driver from the same group.
Trades can either be made by email or using the
Trade Driver form. You
must include your name, team name, team identification number, email address, and the drivers
involved in the trade.
Note: You may make as many changes as you wish to your lineup before the
season begins. None of these changes will count towards your limit of five (5) changes.
This is done to encourage you to enter early without any penalty if you change your
mind about your picks before the season starts.
NOTIFICATION
When making a switch, you must notify the FART commissioner
by or use the
online form.
DEADLINES
Race: Any driver switch must be made by Friday night, 11:59 PM Pacific Time
(2:59 AM Eastern Time) prior to a race to become effective for that race.
Email time/date stamps will be used (though they still must be received prior to the start
of the race). The change remains in effect for the rest of the
season unless another change is made. Once the deadline is passed, you cannot make a
switch until after the race weekend is complete. If your driver is unable to complete
the race weekend, you cannot make a change past the deadline.
Season: All online entries must be made by 11:59 PM Pacific Time
(2:59 AM Eastern Time) March 24, 2000 to be accepted for the season.
NEW DRIVERS
New drivers joining the CART FedEx Championship series will be
placed in a group. After this placement, you may select this driver if you still have
changes left, and only within that group.
RACE SCORING
Drivers on your team receive points for a race just like CART. Top 12 positions
receive 20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points, respectively.
Pole position gets 1 point.
Leading the most laps gets 1 point.
Race standings for your team are determined by accumulating points from your 6 drivers for
that race.
RACE TIE BREAKER
In the case of a tie to determine the race weekend winner (or any of the top
12 positions), the team with the highest scoring driver will be declared the
winner.
If still tied, the team with the second highest scoring driver will be
declared the winner, and so on until the tie is broken.
If still tied, the team
with the highest finishing position driver will be declared the winner. (For example,
Team A has a driver who finished 7th, while Team B has a driver who finished 8th but
also got the pole. They both would score six points, but Team A would win the
tie-breaker.)
If still tied, the team with the second highest finishing position
driver will be declared the winner, and so on.
If still tied after all these methods
are used, then the teams will share in an equal split of the combined
points due to them for their respective positions.
SEASON SCORING
Again, similar to CART. The top 12 teams for each race
weekend receive 20-16-14-12-10-8-6-5-4-3-2-1 points.
There are no additional
bonus points.
Thus, if your team finishes first in a weekend, you receive 20
points towards the season tally, not the amount of points your team's drivers
accumulated. If your team finishes second in a weekend, you receive 16 points
towards the season tally, again regardless of the race points scored, and so on.
If your team finishes out of the top 12 for the weekend, you receive zero points
towards the season tally.
SEASON TIE BREAKER
In the case of a tie for any of the top 10 positions for the season the winner
will be determined by the most weekend victories for their team.
If still tied, then most second place team finishes will be used, and so on until
a winner is decided.
If still tied, the team
with the highest score for a race will be declared the winner.
If still tied, the team with the second highest score for a race will
be used, and so on until a winner is decided.
If still tied, after all these methods are used, then the teams will share in an
equal split of the combined prizes (if any) for their respective positions .
RESULTS
All scoring will be based on the official results released by CART
which will take into account any penalties and disqualifications.
Official results will be gotten from the CART official timing web site,
Swiss Timing and Scoring.
All results will be posted on our web site available to everyone the Wednesday
after the completion of the race or earlier, if possible.
If you spot a potential error, notify us immediately. Put PROTEST in the subject
header in order to alert us. We will make every attempt to correct the error as appropriate.
NAME
All team franchises must have a name selected by the team owner. The name of the team will
be used in the standings, not the team owner's name.
FRANCHISE FEE
FREE! That's right, free!
PRIZES
Well, nothing right now. We are working on it, but no guarantees. For now, play for
bragging rights, the fun of it, and to enjoy your favorite sport that much more.
