| Fantasy Auto Racing Teams (FART)
We're sorry, but we are just not going to have the time nor resources
to be able to run the fantasy league this year. One very good alternative is
SpeedLeague which is free and uses a somewhat similar
scoring system to ours except they accumulate the scores through the year instead of awarding
points per race. They are just starting up a CART league this year, and it looks pretty good.
Plus, they award prizes!
CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR 2000 CHAMPIONS!
Tony Bettenhausen League Champion RHR (Team Owner, Rafael Henning)
Greg Moore League Champion Soichiro's Heroes (Team Owner, Mitch Flies)
We hope you had fun playing in the past! Please give us
of this year's fantasy league.
Tell us what you would like to see stay the same and/or change for next season.
11/1/00: Fontana results are up. Go to the standings
page.
10/30/00: The Australia results have been updated. Just like at Rio, we had to take
into account penalties that resulted in points being taken away. In this case, it was Oriol
Servia who was given a penalty by CART. Anybody who had Servia for that race had four points
subtracted from their race score. However, this had no effect on the overall standings as none of
the teams affected were in a points scoring position. The Australia race
standings were updated accordingly.
10/23/00: Casey Mears will be driving a third Team Rahal entry at Fontana. We are not
going to include him in FART, so he will not be selectable.
10/19/00: Australia results are up. Go to the standings
page.
9/12/00: It appears Alex Barron is going to finish out the season in the Dale Coyne
entry subbing for Takuya Kurosawa.
9/4/00: Bryan Herta will drive for the resurrected Forsythe Championship Racing team
in a Reynard/Ford at Laguna Seca, and perhaps for the rest of the season.
8/31/00: Alex Barron will drive the Daly Coyne entry replacing Gualter Salles for
Vancouver and Laguna Seca. Barron will be placed in Group 6.
8/17/00: Takuya Kurosawa is out for the season after back surgery. Gualter Salles
replaced him in the Dale Coyne entry for Mid-Ohio and Road America. After that, Bryan Herta may
be in the car for the remainder of the season.
8/4/00: Memo Gidley replaces Norberto Fontana on the Della Penna Motorsports team for
the remainder of the season.
6/27/00: The Rio results have been updated to take into account the Michael Andretti
penalty. Anybody who had Andretti for that race had four points subtracted from their race score.
However, as per the CART decision, Andretti remained in 9th place which only mattered for any
tie-breaker situation. The Rio race standings were updated
accordingly, as were the season standings.
5/28/00: The Rio ruling -- the FART rules state under Results, "All scoring will
be based on the official results released by CART which will take into account any penalties and
disqualifications." Therefore, the four points removed from Michael Andretti by CART must be
taken into account in FART. Unfortunately, the program we are using means we have to go back and
do this by hand for all those teams that have Andretti. Thus, as soon as we get around to it,
the Rio results and league standings will be updated.
5/13/00: Nazareth note -- just like in real life, when your team shows up at Nazareth,
you will be scored with the drivers you have at the time that the race is actually run on May 27.
Not the drivers you had when the race was first supposed to be run in April. However, since
Montoya already got pole position back in April, only those teams that had Montoya at the time
qualifying was run will get that point. Therefore, you cannot trade for Montoya thinking you will
get a guaranteed one point. The only points you would get will be the ones Montoya earns during
the race itself.
5/9/00: SPECIAL MOTEGI TRADE DEADLINE -- Though the rules state that all trades must
take place Friday at 11:59 PM Pacific Time to take effect for an upcoming race, due to the time of
the Motegi race, we will have to change that. After all, the race would be over before the
deadline! Therefore, for Motegi only, the trade deadline is this Thursday, May 11 at 11:59 PM
Pacific Time (2:59 AM Eastern Time).
5/8/00: Shinji Nakano will indeed be back in the car thus leaving Bryan Herta on the
sidelines again. Also, Tarso Marques will be replacing Gualter Salles on the Dale Coyne Racing
team driving a Swift-Ford. Marques will be placed in Group 5.
4/15/00: We discovered an error in the Homestead scoring for the Tony Bettenhausen
league. However, it did not affect the season standings. We mistakenly left off Christian
Fittipaldi on MAD007's roster. By re-scoring MAD007 with Fittipaldi, the team goes from 22 points
to 28 points, and from a tie for 20th place to 15th place. Thus, it only affected the Homestead
standings, but not the season standings since MAD007 did not place in the top 12. The appropriate
pages are updated. We apologize for this error. We double checked the rest of the scoring for
Homestead in both leagues, and found no other errors.
4/11/00: Bryan Herta will be filling in for the injured Shinji Nakano on the Walker
Racing team for Long Beach and Rio. Memo Gidley will substitute for the injured Patrick
Carpentier on the Players' Team for Long Beach and maybe Rio. Gidley will be placed in Group 4,
the same as Carpentier. If you already made a trade for Carpentier before knowing Gidley would
be placed in Group 4, and wish to select Gidley, you may make another trade for him, and it will
not count as an additional trade, as long as you make it before Long Beach. This is only for
those folks who have already traded Carpentier away (there were only two of you) and only if you
want Gidley. If you want to keep your original trade, do nothing.
3/30/00: The rosters can now be reached from the Standings
page which also has links to the seasonal standings and each individual race standings.
All the Homestead results are now up. Thanks for your patience. Things should go a bit smoother
for the rest of the season. This page will now be used for news about CART that could affect FART
and/or your individual team as well as news and updates about FART. Again, thanks for playing!
3/25/00: The 2000 Fantasy Auto Racing Teams (FART) entry is now closed.
