Featured Question

Now that we have left the 1900's and entered the 2000's (we'll leave the debate about when the decade/century/millennium ends/starts for other web sites), let's play a fantasy. What is the one thing you would like to see in racing in the future?

Purple Bar
Competitive women drivers!!!

For the Evil NASCAR horde to dry up and go away. Some guy already posted here and said he wanted NAPCAR to admit they are like Pro Wrestling. NAPCAR would have to become 300% more entertaining just to be as interesting as wrestling. And NAPCAR is now what the average American thinks of when they think of racing...

I'd love to see a long 6-1/2 hour race where teams only enter 1 car, and you have driver changes etc..., possibly at a long nice circuit like Elkhart Lake? Also a CART race at a classic European circuit like Spa would be COOL!!!

i agree with tom king about a valid iroc series. occasionally you can see "old" races from the 80s at watkins glen, mid ohio, etc. where there is real competition not found on the high speed ovals. or put them all in open wheel cars and see some parity. the current series is a joke. also wish the endurance/road racing guys would get it together. love seeing all classes of cars running at the same time, 12 or 24 hours a stretch. panoz is doing what he can, i guess, but sanctions/rules/tv packages, etc have caused so many problems in the past, nobody can make a success

I would like to see anybody but DeCaprio star in Stallones upcoming Champ car movie. The "boy" is wrong for the part.

I would most like to see roadtracks built so that spectators could see at least two good passing areas and one straight section for the race.

For the CART teams to suck it up and buy there on IRL cars, go to Indy and kick the IRL teams asses in Tony Georges on sandbox. This will force a reconciliation faster then all of the nice talk.

I would like to see an open wheel version of IROC, featuring drivers from CART, F1, IRL, and other competitive series. This would be an outstanding way to view each series strengths and weaknesses. I am relaistic enough to know that legal and financial constraints preclude this from ever happening, but you did say that it was fantasy!

A long, wide, high speed natural terrain road course set in a picturesque landscape. A true classic something like the old Nurburgring. Maybe if Penske, Ganassi, and Forsythe would forget the cookie cutter ovals, they could pool their money and do it. It could be the ultimate showcase venue to show the versitility of the Champ Cars and drivers.

To stop worrying what Tony George is thinking, its a waste of ink in the press. Tony choked, and he knows it, just let him fade into the darkness, just like his PEP BOYS, oh I'm sorry you lost your title sponser, just like who won INDY last year, oh I'm sorry you lost him to CART. Fade into thr darkness, just like dog and pony show you call the I.R.L. P.S. Your Grandfather must be proud of what you've done to openwheel racing, you dumb---

INDY, IN U.S.A. - Friday, January 21, 2000 at 16:35:59 (PST)
A prototype racing series which races once an month on only a few natural terrain road courses which allows the development of high tech devices with no restriction (like the old Group 7). This would allow development of all of the technologies which racing routinely outlaws for the sake of the show. In this concept, the technology is the show. Perhaps include the Pike's Peak circuit? Allow alternate (pump available) fuels, strange engines (turbines?), ground effects, active suspensions, ABS, traction control, but restrict it only to DOT legal tires, any size, available to all competitors.

I wish that Tony George would study the old saying, "Shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves in 3 generations"; and realize that he is on the fast track to accomplishing it.

Sorry DT, but I can't do just one. For starters, really good TV coverage for CART. No more multiple networks, no more taped delays, no more cutting off the last lap for senior golf. Second, a really good CART website that doesn't demand you get a new monitor just to use it, or at the very least, one that changes each season, nearly always for the worse. Still with me? How about some North American drivers? One reason the IRL has any support at all is that it's one of the few places an American or Canadian driver can get an open wheel ride. okay, back to reality now!
